Noelene the Thrush.
Weeks of sitting, glaring balefully out at the world, has ended. Noelene is a free thrush for a moment at a time when not protecting the chicks, feeding them, hunting for them or cleaning up after them. Only a mother could bear them at this stage (see image). Come dusk, she settles down on them again – mostly so all that work is not wasted if they die of cold. They WILL grow proper feathers soon, she says, hoping they are listening.
